Who we are
This policy applies to Burgerooze and the restaurants we operate, and to this website. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
You give us information directly when you use a form on this site:
- Booking requests: your name, email, phone, restaurant, party size, date, time and any notes.
- Enquiries and partnership requests: your name, email, phone, restaurant and message.
- Job applications: your name, contact details, the role you want and what you tell us about your experience and availability.
We also collect information automatically as you browse, through cookies and similar technologies: pages you view, the links you follow, your approximate location, your device and browser, and the site that referred you.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, manage your booking, consider your application, run and improve the website, and, where you have agreed, to send you offers and show you advertising that is relevant to you.
Advertising and measurement
This site uses the Meta Pixel, a tool provided by Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). It records actions such as viewing a page, downloading a menu, tapping a phone number or opening an ordering link, and reports them to Meta. Meta uses this to measure our advertising and to show our ads to people who have visited the site.
Our forms include a marketing box, which is ticked by default. While it is ticked, we may also send Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address or phone number so it can match your activity to your account and improve that measurement. We do not send Meta the content of your message, your application or your booking notes. Untick the box, or ask us to unsubscribe at any time, and we stop sending your contact details to Meta.
We do not sell your personal information.
Our Instagram feed
The home page shows recent posts from our own Instagram account. The posts are fetched by our server, not by your browser, so viewing them does not tell Instagram anything about you. Following a post through to Instagram takes you to their site, where their own privacy policy applies.
Who we share it with, and where it goes
We share personal information with service providers who help us run the business (website hosting, email, booking and advertising platforms) and with the individual restaurant your enquiry relates to. Some of these providers, including Meta, store and process information outside Australia, principally in the United States and Ireland. By submitting a form or agreeing to marketing, you consent to that overseas disclosure.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How to opt out
You can stop marketing and tracking at any time:
- Untick the marketing box on any of our forms, or email us and ask to be removed. We will action it within 30 days.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, which stops the Pixel recording your activity.
- Adjust what Meta shows you in the ad preferences of your Facebook or Instagram account.
Opting out of marketing will not affect a booking, an enquiry or an application you have already sent us.
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and we destroy or de-identify it when we no longer need it. Unsuccessful job applications are kept for 12 months unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@burgerooze.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable period.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
